Paris

Psychologist

Hey there, my name is Paris, and when you come to Aurora Allied Health and spot the Pop Vinyl figures - you have me to thank. Supporting people to be the best versions of themselves in this wild ride we call life brings me great joy. As a Psychologist, I passionately believe that we as humans hold the potential and resilience to be able to heal ourselves - we just need the right tools! I enjoy nerding out with clients about psychological principles such as evolutionary psychology, attachment theory, and the nervous system so that we can address the root cause of issues. People have found that when they have a greater understanding of what is going on for them, they can feel more confident and empowered to manage the challenges that they face.

My approach combines Schema Therapy, EMDR, somatic therapy, ACT, and DBT that help us to process our experiences, make sense and meaning of our lives, and ride the journey of life with greater confidence. Being neurodivergent, I also incorporate special interests (SpIns), strengths and values, and sensory processing into therapeutic sessions. I can include spiritual principles too, if you are that way inclined.

Before coming to Aurora Allied Health, I helped support vulnerable and complex populations within Government sectors of Child Protective Services, Corrective Services, and the Disability Royal Commission. You will find me in a boxing gym or dance studio in my spare time, and I enjoy unwinding with a big mug of chai in one hand, and a fantasy book in the other hand. My cat Pablo will most certainly be in my lap.

My areas of interest are:

  • ADHD and challenging behaviours

  • Autism and Sensory Processing

  • Complex Trauma and PTSD

  • Addiction

  • Couples Therapy

  • Children aged 7+, Adolescents and Adults
